About Boyscout Designer:

The frayed edges of public space are Boyscout Designer's field of work. Starting point for their work is the conflict of interest that the design of public space leads to extreme regulation, which makes its users passive. Scouts, on the other hand, learn to face their environment actively and responsibly. Boyscout Designer brings together the worlds of Social Design and Scouting. It is a mindset at the intersection of individual and collective.

The Boyscout Designer knows how to bend rules for the benefit of his design, works from the user's point of view, ensures that he is involved in the community for which he works, goes out into the village and the city, and keeps his eyes open for new initiatives, places, objects and services. As a Boyscout Designer he shares his experiences online and offline and combines design with research. The Boyscout Designer makes guerrilla interventions that provoke reactions in town and village, for a more cheerful, stimulating and better utilized public space.

Working with his bottom-up approach, Bouke Bruins translates the wishes or needs of the people into humorous installations/interventions with social impact. His designs and concepts are a tool to research public space and his role as a designer.
